2025 NFL Preview: Buffalo Bills Season Outlook, Schedule & Prediction
2025 BUFFALO BILLS SEASON PREVIEW
It was another successful season for the Buffalo Bills that ended in a similar way — at the hands of Patrick Mahomes. Buffalo won 13 games, including a battle with the Kansas City Chiefs, in the regular season. Josh Allen put together an MVP campaign and the Bills marched into the postseason. After a big victory against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills fell in a similar place in the divisional round at Arrowhead.
OFFENSE
The Bills’ offense did not miss a beat last season after losing both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Quite the opposite as Allen was named NFL MVP after a 40-touchdown season with just six interceptions.
Entering the offseason, the priority of the offense was to keep James Cook around long term. The running back signed a four-year extension worth upwards of $48 million. He will continue to be the focal point on the ground after eclipsing 1,000 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns last season.
Cook and Allen benefit from an elite duo of tackles. Dion Dawkins is an incredible pass blocker while Spencer Brown has turned into a quality right tackle. On the interior, Connor McGovern headlines the group at center.
Allen will have a similar group of pass catchers to work with. If last season was any indication, the Bills will be just fine once again. It begins with Khalil Shakir, who thrived while taking on a bigger. workload. Buffalo made a trade for Amari Cooper last season while Dalton Kincaid is expected to improve upon a bit of a down year in 2024.
DEFENSE
The Bills made it a priory to improve the defensive side of the ball in attempts to battle a difficult AFC.
It began with the addition of Joey Bosa. The big-name pass rusher agreed to a deal and will join Greg Rousseau on the edge, who led the team with eight sacks in 2024. Health has been an issue for Bosa during his career. If healthy, this is a strong duo that can get to the quarterback. AJ Epenesa is another young talent on the edge with third-round rookie Landon Jackson.
While the edges have some new faces, the interior will look the same. Ed Oliver is among the best interior pass rushers in the league while DaQuan Jones is another strong talent.
In the middle, Buffalo signed Shaq Thompson to provide depth and explosiveness behind Matt Milano. He will likely start with Terrel Bernard in the middle.
In the secondary, it is Maxwell Hairston who will be an immediate upgrade over Kaiir Elam. As a whole, the defense is as strong as its been in years as the front office attempted to find replacements.
