5 Landing Spots for Breece Hall

There’s more speculation surrounding the future of New York Jets running back Breece Hall. This has been discussed for months now that the Jets might move off Hall, but were fueled by new head coach Aaron Glenn and his comments about a running back by committee approach to the 2025 season.

The Jets have running backs to execute a committee in 2025 with Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis both in the backfield. If one of these two running backs shine in the preseason or if Breece Hall becomes disgruntled about the trade rumors, we could see the Jets trade Hall by this year’s trade deadline.

Whoever acquires Breece Hall would get a promising running back. Hall is only 24 and was a second-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hall had a significant injury his rookie year that limited him to two starts in seven games, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Since then, Hall has been capped at 5 touchdowns and just under 1,000 yards rushing. Hall makes up for it by being a dual threat, with 1,291 yards and 8 touchdowns receiving out of the backfield.

Breece Hall could be a great addition for another NFL team, and here are five teams that make sense.

5 — Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have been linked to Breece Hall ever since last year when the running game was struggling. The Cowboys are likely not to invest in a running back after completely revamping their running back room by signing Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, and recently Malik Davis, while drafting Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah. The Cowboys likely have the answer in the building already, but if Breece Hall can step in as a starter on day one, why not acquire him if the price tag is super affordable?

4 — Washington Commanders

The Commanders were 3rd in rushing last season with 154.1 yards per game, so this is a peculiar choice for Washington to pursue Hall. They were third without a 1,000-yard rusher. Their rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels was the team’s leading rusher with 891 yards. So the Commanders need a legitimate starting running back, because Brian Robinson Jr. has never eclipsed 1,000 yards in his first three seasons either… not even 800 yards. Adding Breece to this Washington offense, despite Terry McLaurin’s trade request, would make this an interesting contender in the NFC.

3 — Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl despite being in the bottom half of rushing in the NFL. Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco combined for 1,038 rushing yards on 283 carries last season. Anyone doubting Patrick Mahomes and his ability to elevate a team should be silenced because the passing attack carried this team to the big game. The Chiefs haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Kareem Hunt in 2017, a team quarterbacked by Alex Smith. While Breece Hall hasn’t had 1,000 yards on the ground, he has gotten close with horrific quarterbacks and stacked boxes. The Chiefs adding Breece Hall could be the missing piece for another Super Bowl run.

2 — Cincinnati Bengals

If the Chiefs are going to do it, the Bengals might as well throw their name in the hat. The Bengals were the third-worst rushing team in the NFL last year, only in front of the Las Vegas Raiders (who drafted Ashton Jeanty) and Breece’s current team, the Jets. Chase Brown is a serviceable running back, averaging 4.3 yards per carry (990 yards on 229 carries) and finding the endzone seven times. But while the Bengals don’t invest in their defense, they do like helping surround Joe Burrow. Giving Burrow a solid running back like Breece Hall could help this Bengals team close out large leads, or at the very least, keep Breece Hall away from their stiffest competition.

1 — Chicago Bears

Chicago makes the most sense here. The Bears can pay Breece Hall after his contract is up and they are relying on D’Andre Swift who is better suited in a RB1-RB2 system. Chicago’s new head coach Ben Johnson had a two running back system in Detroit, utilizing Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery to their full potential. If Johnson can bring in a trustworthy running back like Breece Hall to pair with Swift, this can give Caleb Williams the best chance to succeed in his second year at the professional level.

Do you see a Breece Hall trade imminent? Where could the Jets running back be dealt to play ball in 2025?
