2025 NFL Preview: Chicago Bears Season Outlook, Schedule & Prediction
2025 CHICAGO BEARS SEASON PREVIEW
The Chicago Bears got off to a promising start but then the bye week came. Chicago was 4-2 heading into the week off. First game out, the Bears were sunk by a Hail Mary against the Washington Commanders and this began the downward spiral that was a 10-game losing streak.
OFFENSE
The Bears’ offense hopes to live up to expectations this season and the addition of Ben Johnson as head coach is the major upgrade.
Johnson hopes to take second-year quarterback Caleb Williams to the next level and there will be plenty to work with.
Chicago kept its two top receivers in DJ Moore and Rome Odunze on the outside. With Johnson coming in, the team wanted to add a second tight end. This led to selecting Colston Loveland in the first round of the draft to pair with Cole Kmet.
In the backfield, D’Andre Swift returns as RB1 with great depth behind him including Kyle Monangai and Roschon Johnson.
This offense will work behind a revamped offensive line. This was the main priority of the offseason and it happened in many ways. First, Chicago made trades for Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. It went onto sign Drew Dalman in free agency to take over at center. The interior of the line is as good as it gets heading into the season. Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright will take their position on the outside.
The Bears drafted Ozzy Trapilo in the second round to provide depth in case of injury.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bears wanted to make improvements up front.
This came in the form of two veterans Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo. This interior hopes to improve upon a 27th place finish in the league in yards allowed. This new combination will help Montez Sweat on the outside.
The secondary remains similar despite a need at cornerback. Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon return on the outside along with Tyrique Stevenson. At safety Jaquan Brisker missed 12 games but is a big factor along with Kevin Byard.
The linebackers remain the same outside of fourth-round rookie Ruben Hyppolite. TJ Edwards and Tremaine Edmunds are an elite duo in the NFC.
