Landon Dickerson May Be Back Sooner Than We Thought
The NFL Preseason started off with a bit of a bang for the defending Super Bowl champions, as the Philadelphia Eagles took a Week 1 W against the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 34-27. It was a bit of a shootout by “most” of the back-ups from each side, as Eagles’ #2 QB Tanner McKee put on a clinic at Lincoln Financial on Sunday. He would go on to finish with a stat-line of 20/25, with 252 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
The month of August was going rather swell for “The Birds,” until an injury to Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson forced the “Philadelphia Faithful” to clench their collective butt holes in fear.

Dickerson, an All-American who finished his collegiate career at Alabama, was drafted by the Eagles in the 2nd round (37th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has been a pivotal part of HC Nick Sirianni’s offense, starting in 62 of the 63 games that he’s played in. He has been a stout member of a top-5 offensive line, to the point where the thought of him being injured sent fans spiraling into their own feelings.
But according to multiple reports, it sounds like Dickerson will avoid anything major as he heads into the 2025 season. As reported by Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo on X(Twitter), #69 will be having what they’re calling “minor knee surgery” in a couple of days. The procedure that he will have done will make him week-to-week, and should (hopefully) make him ready for the start of the regular season.
This is BIG NEWS for an offense that has a big “run-first approach.” They need that front-five to stay as healthy as possible, with the likes of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley manning the backfield. They aren’t the most consistent through the air, averaging a 32nd-ranked 25.7 passes per game in 2024. So they NEED HIM suited up as soon as possible.
Thankfully this situation didn’t end as bad as we thought it would. But in the end, as always….what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
