The 2025 NFL season is upon us and that means fantasy football is back.
Many teams have started drafting and there are more coming this weekend. With that in mind, we have put together rankings ahead of the season.
Below, check out the Top 10 fantasy defenses for the upcoming season.
Top 10 Fantasy Football Defenses for 2025
- Denver Broncos: The Broncos finished as fantasy’s top defense last season and only got better. The schedule is favorable all year long and the talent is even better than 2024. The Broncos have a chance to finish at the top once again.
- Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles lost some talent in free agency after winning the Super Bowl. Milton Williams and Josh Sweat left in free agency while CJ Gardner-Johnson was traded. Zach Baun is back and there are still studs all over the field. Do not shy away from the Eagles this season.
- Houston Texans: The Texas were among the top units last season under DeMeco Ryans. The aggressive nature of the defense should continue especially with some big additions.
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Pittsburgh and its sack numbers has been the reason the Steelers are an elite unit. TJ Watt signed a new deal and will be back in the middle while Jalen Ramsey comes in to bolster the secondary. This is a potential top-three defense this season.
- Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens continue to fly under the radar while producing at an elite level. This is the same story each year. The Ravens have not been flashy but they have been one of the top defenses in football. Kyle Hamilton has a new contract while the front seven is as tough as they come.
- Buffalo Bills: Buffalo is another team that will face an inferior schedule. It forced 32 turnovers last season and the number could hang around once again.
- Minnesota Vikings: Brian Flores is back to run the show. He focuses on hard-hitting defenses that can stop the run. There were some big departures from the defense but the key pieces are back with Andrew Van Ginkel and company.
- Seattle Seahawks: Mike Macdonald came in and transformed the defense in a big way in just one year. Now, it is time to take steps among the ranks of the elite. The Seahawks were the sixth-ranked unit in fantasy last season. Do not be surprised to see that creep into the top five.
- Detroit Lions: The Lions were injured at the end of the 2024 season. Now, Aidan Hutchinson is back and there were some big additions that can help the depth.
- Los Angeles Rams: The middle of the field is an issue for the Rams but the pass rush is as good as ever with Jared Verse and a strong defensive line.
Honorable Mentions: New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs
