Mike Evans Is The Most Hated Potential Hall of Famer Ever
I will never understand why “hating greatness” is a trend. It almost sickens me. The thought of actively trying to nit-pick a particular player’s resumé in order to deem them “not hall of fame worthy” just seems like the work of a sad and pathetic human being.
It just doesn’t make any sense. I mean….take Mike Evans, for instance.

Evans, an 11-year vet in this league, was drafted 7th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. The former Aggie has been one of the most consistent wideout’s in all of football, posting 1000+ yards in eleven straight seasons for Tampa Bay. Last year, he even tied the great Jerry Rice’s record for most consecutive seasons with 1000+ yards; accomplishing the feat in the final game of the regular season.
He is Buccaneer royalty, and a player who will SURELY end up in the team’s ring of honor when it’s all said and done. He has been nothing short of spectacular, leading the Bucs’ organization all-time in career receiving yards (12,684) and receiving touchdowns (105). But how special is Mike Evans, truly? Well…..just take a look at the list of quarterbacks he’s had to deal with;
-Mike Glennon: 2014-2016
-Josh McCown: 2014
-Jameis Winston: 2015-2019
-Ryan Fitzpatrick: 2017-2018
-Tom Brady: 2020-2022
-Blaine Gabbert: 2020-2022
-Baker Mayfield: 2023-2024
That list……has to be the most convoluted collection of humans in the history of this sport. Minus Tom Brady, who is obviously the GOAT of the NFL, #13 has had to deal with a revolving door of mediocrity throughout a majority of his career. The fact that he was able to post 1000+ yard seasons with the likes of “long-neck” Mike Glennon and Josh McCown throwing him the ball is an accomplishment in itself. It just speaks VOLUMES to the talent that he possesses.
Mike Evans has been a prime example of what every NFL wideout should be like. He is someone that ANY football fan would want on their team, if they were given the choice. But for him to not be considered a “Hall of Famer?” That is the most ludicrous, and ass-backwards thing I’ve ever heard.
The man deserves his gold jacket right now, but he ESPECIALLY deserves it if he beats Jerry’s record next season. NO DOUBT! That would be the defining stamp on his career that SCREAMS; “YUP…..he deserves a bust.” And if you are someone who is against that……then you need to take a hard look in the mirror, and stop following the crowd to “be cool.” Or to “be edgy.”
Figure your life out! But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
